One week until the cuts commence

200px-Virgil_Sollozo

While the Turk has been relatively busy in most NFL cities, churning the bottom of a roster than currently can have up to 90 men, the Turk will be more than earning his money next week.

As long as he doesn’t first get shot by a gun hidden in a toilet.

By Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. ET, all rosters must be reduced from a maximum of 90 to a limit of 75.  Four days after, the teams must finish the shrinkage from 75 to 53.

That makes Saturday, August 31 the date for the annual whirlwind of roster moves of a both expected and unexpected nature, with hundreds of players becoming free agents or hitting the waiver wire by the deadline of 6:00 p.m. ET.

As always, we’ll be tracking every cut on a minute-by-minute basis — and in turn every move that’s made as the churning continues at the bottom of the 53-man roster, and as teams fill out their practice squads.

Some players are shakin in their boots, and sadly some players wont even have any team boots to be shaking in, in a week

Felix Jones is going to get axed in favor of the more inexpensive Chris Polk in Philly, especially due to the injury woes.

What’s with the photo of NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo?

“As long as he doesn’t first get shot by a gun hidden in a toilet.”

The gun was BEHIND the toilet! C’mon get it right! Details are important.

    The Turk.

This is the worst part of the year for players. Most players would rather get an ACL than a visit from the Turk. At least they could draw a check with a year on IR. Sadly, this is the last time that many of these players will ever play football.

It’ll be ok…just make sure Michael comes out of the bathroom with more than just his playbook in his hand…

    Bye Bye Tebow

This has to be the hardest job of all for a head coach and I don’t envy any of them. A lot of dreams end when the football version of Virgil Sollozzo comes to your locker.

That said, props to Florio and the gang for posting a picture of my all-time favorite gangland villian.

I read the comments to for the humor, wit, sarcasm etc. Most comments are crap, some comments are truly brilliant. Your was the latter….

So the Tebow “news” will stop in two weeks? Woo Hoo!

“Coach wants to see you. Bring your playbook.”

Tebow has to be the worst football player to ever garner so much attention. If his name wasn’t Tebow he would be bagging groceries by now.

Just one week until the cuts commence…

I wonder if this headline isn’t met with some degree of joy by those ‘fans’ who never played football.

You’re telling me that Tataglia will guarantee our investment?

I bet most of these players that know they are on the roster bubble seriously attempt to avoid the Coaching staff at all costs on this day, thinking that If they are not seen that maybe the Coaches will just forget about them until week 1 hits.

    I feel bad for them.

Unfortunately, Ponder will end up as part of the Viking’s final roster. Too bad too. I would have loved to see which team would have grabbed him off waivers. Wishful thinking.

    Al Lettieri (1928–1975)

A heart attack at age 47…..way too soon.

You’re a little late. The Turk made a visit to several players in New Orleans yesterday.

No comment about the article, but it’s genius using the picture of Al Lettieri. A nod to the original Turk. Awesome!
