Rodgers absent from Packers practice

Arizona Cardinals v Green Bay Packers Getty Images

A week ago, a mild panic ensued when Patriots quarterback Tom Brady went down holding his knee in practice.

So in the interest of equal time, we have to inform you that quarterback Aaron Rodgers is absent from today’s Packers practice, according to Jason Wilde of ESPNWisconsin.com.

Wilde, who co-hosts a weekly radio spot with Rodgers during the season, points out that there’s no necessary reason for alarm at the moment.

But after last week’s concern over the condition of one of the top quarterbacks in the game, it’s appropriate to mention this.

And to alert the Wisconsin National Guard, just in case.

UPDATE 1:25 p.m. ET: Via multiple reports, Rodgers has a “slight illness” and was given the day off.

If Rogers is out Brett Farve will just come out of retirement

  4. ilovemyringlessfranchise says: Aug 20, 2013 1:23 PM

Maybe he got an excused absence to go help his friend, Ryan Braun, through this difficult time…

  8. rpiotr01 says: Aug 20, 2013 1:26 PM

Seems like it’s a day off due to illness. Still, missing this valuable practice time could really hurt Rodgers’ development as a QB.

  9. wjarvis says: Aug 20, 2013 1:27 PM

Probably just broke both his legs in a car accident, I mean why else would he be excused from a practice before the all important 3rd preseason game…

  10. whodatsaybaby says: Aug 20, 2013 1:28 PM

He’s probably filming another ”DISCOUNT DOUBLE CHECK” commerical. Or, he was secretly kidnapped by Brett Farve. Either or is plausible, right???

Packers fans are always so worried about what a Vikings fan might say about them. I find it ironic about how defensive the fans are when the team itself doesn’t even worry about defense.

  27. seahonky says: Aug 20, 2013 1:58 PM

He’ll be back after Friday’s game. He’s having stage fright after learning he’s gotta play the 1st half against the Seahawks. Poor guy.

Lol, it’s funny how they all start the “Queue the queens posting” posts, and not one Vikings fan cares or trolls at all, lol.

    @tokyo

I was just in the Dells last weekend with my family and my Packer-fan girlfriend’s family. It was nice. And amazingly, we managed to get through the whole trip without acting like immature trolls. Turns out most people aren’t as immature as you!

  37. gbmickey says: Aug 20, 2013 3:02 PM

I love how these articles bait the poor viking fans and they circle like buzzards. Only to realize its the proverbial…Psych!

  38. tokyosandblaster says: Aug 20, 2013 3:09 PM

    @brobokill

As it happens, there are 9 Vikings posters (10 if you are one)

Honestly, I don’t care what you think of me. I created this account to combat Viking trolls. There are way more of them thank there are Packer trolls.

Perhaps you should berate them, instead. No?

    Neat.

This is why I don’t care what you think of me (and my anonymous Internet posts).

  39. gslumbers says: Aug 20, 2013 3:23 PM

Lots of real snappy digs on arod. Man- when you’re successful and an outstanding leader in the NFL- bottom feeders really try to glom onto anything to tear a guy down. Sad. This shouldn’t even be a story

  40. deltaoracle says: Aug 20, 2013 3:34 PM

Greg Jennings reportedly feels Rodgers and the Packers should talk more about the germs, doctor, and medicine and less about #12.

He didn’t say that. He says beaten twice a year. That’s actually true, since the packers won 2 of 3 games between the Packers and Vikings.

  44. 15to12 says: Aug 20, 2013 5:16 PM

Why is it that there are never out of place Bears fans writing smug comments on our forum? Do they not see how making comments is going to help their team beat Green Bay?

Actually, they just have a little self respect.

Viking fan here. I rarely comment, but read the articles for shear enjoyment. Football isn’t nearly as big as hockey is in minny hence the ratio of packer trolls to Vikings being largely skewed. Yeah we love our teams but realize its just a sport. I personally have nothing against the packers and don’t understand all the hostility. It’s fun to be passionate but they’re a a line. This isn’t Europe and soccer, I’d like to think we’re better than that. But please keep bickering it keeps my summer nights interesting

  51. Frazier28/7 says: Aug 21, 2013 12:31 PM

Dude, nobody cares about the Wild in Minnesota in comparison to the Vikings. After the North Stars left the only hockey we care about is high school and the gophers, professional hockey will take a long time to get back to where it was with the North Stars. The sport of hockey is bigger, but the state is a Viking state not a Wild state. I agree though, too many packer fans live in Minnesota.
