Texans running back Arian Foster is one step closer to returning to action.

Foster will be added to the club’s active roster and removed from the active/PUP list on Wednesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.

Foster has missed all of training camp and the Texans’ preseason games to date because of a back ailment.

The Texans’ regular-season opener is Monday, Sept. 9 at San Diego. Foster’s removal from PUP allows him to practice and means he’s passed a physical — good signs indeed for one of Houston’s most important players and one of the NFL’s most versatile running backs.
