Gonzalez back from virtual camp for real action

Tony Gonzalez AP

Tony Gonzalez is back, and he’s ready to jump right in.

After going through a “virtual training camp” so he could spend time with his family, the veteran tight end is going to hit the ground running, as he’ll start and play regular minutes against the Titans Saturday night.

Tony is in great shape like he always is,” Falcons coach Mike Smith said, via D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “He’ll play just like the rest of the starters.”

Gonzalez missed most of training camp to spend time with his family, which was part of the deal to get him to come back for a 17th season. But tight ends coach Chris Scelfo kept in touch, ad they watched practice nightly on iPads.

“Yeah, we have the iPad with all of the plays on there and all of the installation that you’re going to need,” Gonzalez said. “There is nothing that they saw that I didn’t see. I got to see everything. It beams right to the iPad. I would watch it every night and see what they did in practice every day.”

Now, he’s going to go from watching it to doing it.

75 catches for 950 yds. Wont be his greatest season, but he’ll put up some points for sure.

Didn’t he say he was done playing the year of the lockdown? What a joke

Ha Ha. He’s like 52 years old. Gonzalez or no Gonzalez the first week of the season the Falcons are going down to the Saints in the New Orleans Mercedes Benz Superdome! Falcons had their chance last year when Goodell served them up a championship game appearance by suspending the Saints coach and half our team in the bogus bounty scandal. Too bad the falcons choked on 4th and 3 in the red zone against the Niners. Ha Ha. Geaux Saints!

Keep playing Madden, Tony. That’s the closest you’ll ever get to a Superbowl.

There’s no ‘I’ in team … but there must be one somewhere in Gonzalez. Maybe it’s silent.

The Falcons have mastered the art of watching the playoffs virtually in January.

This type of virtual camp training will come in handy come that time.

Are you widely recognized as one of, if not *the* greatest heart surgeon of all time, with over a decade of experience watching a new technique for heart valve replacement surgery as a refresher course?
