Terrell Thomas will play against Jets

Giants cornerback Terrell Thomas‘ comeback from a third torn ACL will take a major step forward on Saturday when Thomas takes the field against the Jets.

It will be Thomas’ first game action of any kind since an August 22, 2011 preseason game against the Bears. Thomas tore his ACL in that game and then tore it again before preseason action got underway last summer, which means that more than two full years of watching and rehabbing at MetLife Stadium.

Dave Hutchinson of the Newark Star-Ledger reports that Giants coach Tom Coughlin was enthusiastic about Thomas’ recent practice performances when he announced that the cornerback would be making his return to the lineup. Coughlin called an interception during practice “very good” and said that he was looking forward to watching the practice tape of Thomas from Wednesday.

If Thomas makes it through the game unscathed, talk will turn to what kind of role he’d play in the Giants secondary in 2013. There’s been talk of Thomas seeing time at safety, but the Giants have plenty of player at both secondary spots vying for snaps at the moment. While the Giants have shown admirable patience with Thomas over the last two years, he’ll need to show that he’s capable of making an impact on the team to get one of the 53 spots on the roster come the end of the month.

This guy was our best corner and if he stays healthy can be an x factor for us! He plays the run hard and plays the ball very well! Great compliment to prince on the other side! Best wishes to TT for a great comeback season!

We definitely can use some help after last week. Giants had better step up this week, a loss or poor performance against the Jets will be very unsettling.

A welcome addition to our backfield if he can stay healthy. I hope he can and wish the team and him a SB ring.

Gotta give the guy credit for persistence in a long, hard rehab.

    Good luck !

As a Panther fan who have witnessed Thomas Davis come back from 3 ACL tears in the same knee, I hope for the best for him.

That settles it; I’m not going to the game. I can’t stand to see a grown man cry, and when that knee snaps for the 4th time, the waterworks will be flowing.

Enough money has been spent for this man to ride the whirl-pool machine, cut him now before we have to pay for another blown season.

Continue with the rebuilding season now so we have a chance in 2015. Go Big Blue…

I was wondering, what they were gonna do with him, since he hasnĀ“t got onto the field yet. You simply have to root for the guy! Wish him nothing but the best.

TT was an all-pro in the making…..too bad he blew out his knee.

Hopefully he can come back, but please temper expectations. I highly doubt he will be anywhere close to the player he was before the last 2 knee injuries.

    GO BIG BLUE!!!
