Chaz Schilens among five Lions cuts

Chaz Schilens AP

Before the Lions played the Jets in the opening preseason game for each team, Lions wide receiver Chaz Schilens said that he thought one of the reasons he didn’t stay with the Jets was because the team scapegoated everyone but quarterback Mark Sanchez for their poor season in 2012.

Schilens will have another chance to air his thoughts on leaving a team after the Lions announced he was being released on Friday. Schilens was one of five players let go as Detroit got a jump on paring their roster down to 75 players.

Schilens played for the Lions against the Patriots on Thursday night, but didn’t have a catch for the third straight preseason game. The Lions also released veteran cornerback D.J. Johnson, who played seven games for the Redskins last season, and offensive lineman Derek Hardman, who played in 15 games for the Buccaneers over the last three seasons.

The Lions also waived/injured defensive tackle John Drew and cornerback Ross Weaver. The moves leave the Lions at 84 players after they previously parted ways with wide receiver Mike Thomas.

Isn’t this the guy who likes to talk trash about his former teammates?

“Do we have any need or use for him?”
    “No?”
    “OK, then cut his ass.”

Good news Raiders! You can have him back and your fans can go back to insisting he is a quality wideout and part of one of the best young receiving corps in the NFL.

In fact, I think DHB is available too, isn’t he?

And this was one of the best WR’s in Oakland during his tenure. That, and I am an Oakland fan. Of course he was hurt oft and got the moniker Glazz Schilens, but this whole story of him being cut just shows how bad the mess was in Oakland. Hard to believe that decades of dominance have turned into decades of idiocy. Just When, Baby?

maybe he can sign with the bengals so his huge back tattoo will finally make sense.

I would love it if Titus Young got his head straight and made a comeback. That would be such a great story…unfortunately it is probably only going to be fiction.

*golf clap* Chaz was a rookie in 2008. In 2008 our receiving corps were Javon Walker, Ronald Curry, Johnny Lee Higgins, Ashley Lelie, and Todd Watkins. So thats self explanatory why we were high on Chaz.

Now back to the shed wearing your Aaron Hernandez jersey. You’re welcome for the tuck rule.

And you won’t see Lionsdraftguy on this article because he knows how his teams season will end.

    Worthless, ringless and depleted.
