John Fox: Wes Welker will be ready for regular season opener

Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker suffered a sprained ankle in the team’s preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks last Saturday night.

The injury was never considered particularly worrisome and head coach John Fox said Thursday that Welker will be ready for the start of the regular season on Thursday, Sept. 5.

“If we had a game tomorrow, he’d be out there,” Fox said, via Arnie Stapleton of theĀ Associated Press. “This is preseason, we’re trying to get ready for our regular season and yet still hone our skills to get ready for that.”

Welker returned to limited participation in practice on Thursday but he’s not expected to play again this preseason. Welker caught three passes for 31 yards and a touchdown against the Seahawks last week.

If he welches on this promise he’ll be called Wes Welcher.

    What’s your team?

Welker has had a good relatively injury free career. He’s due. That one blown knee doesn’t count as he didn’t miss much playing time. You can’t get knocked around the way he does without effects starting to show at his age.

The Champs!? Hahahaha You are talking about the team with the miracle entrance into the playoffs capped off by miracle catch after catch by a player no longer on the team after a horrendous contract to a QB akin to he who won BAL’s last championship? The hall-of-fame players that allowed that to happen just retired. Good luck!

It’s a concussion not a ankle injury. You could tell he was hurt by how quickly he popped back to his feet. You see the annoyoyance on his face when all his teamates came over and smashed their heads into him in celebration.

to all BAL fans. Sorry but your team looks terrible right now. Joe cool has thrown 4 pics already in the preseason. your #1 can’t do anything against anyone. keep dreaming.
