Asante Samuel suffers thigh injury

Falcons cornerback Asante Samuel suffered a thigh injury in Saturday’s game at Tennessee, multiple media outlets, including the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reported.

Samuel is questionable to return, per multiple reports.

Samuel, 32, intercepted five passes in 15 starts for Atlanta in 2012. His playmaking ability has been his calling card in stints with the Patriots, Eagles and now Falcons.

Second-round pick Robert Alford is listed as the top backup behind Samuel at left cornerback on the club’s depth chart.

The Falcons’ regular-season opener is in 15 days at New Orleans.

They can’t afford to lose Ryan, J Jones, R White, Gonzalez, or Samuel. The entire remaining roster is below average.
