C.J. Spiller banged up in first quarter, Bills say he’s OK

The Bills offense got going on their second drive in Washington on Saturday as C.J. Spiller ran for 27 yards, including a two-yard plunge for a touchdown.

Good feelings didn’t last very long, however. Spiller grabbed his right knee after falling into the end zone and received medical attention on the field for a few minutes.

Spiller was able to walk gingerly off the field without assistance and sat down on the bench with his offensive teammates. That’s a good sign for the Bills’ most talented offensive player and the Bills offense as a whole, although we’ll keep an eye out for any further updates about his condition.

Even if it turns out to have been little more than a momentary scare, that might be the last we see of Spiller until September 8. The Bills don’t need to see anything more to be sure of Spiller’s role in the offense and they certainly don’t need to see him grabbing his knee at the end of any more plays in August.

UPDATE 5:28 p.m. ET: We didn’t have to wait that long. Spiller returned to the game in the second quarter after quarterback Kevin Kolb made his exit.

Did a news search to see about injury and saw the story about his step-grandfather. Tough day for CJ.

Remember when the Bills traded away Marshawn Lynch so they could draft this guy? Lmao!

Always concerning when a guy goes down grabbing at his knee. Probably not too big a deal, Brady looked pretty banged up a bit ago and he turned out to be fine.

The Bills still had Marshawn on their roster when they drafted Spiller. Try again genius.
