If the third game is the time in the preseason when we get the best idea of how a team is going to look in the regular season, then Indianapolis has to feel very good right now.
Colts quarterback Andrew Luck and receiver Reggie Wayne appear to be in midseason form against the Browns, with Luck hitting Wayne seven times for 79 yards in the first half. Luck played better than his numbers (14-for-23 for 141 yards with a touchdown and an interception) would suggest. Luck’s interception went through the hands of fullback Stanley Havili, who should have caught it before Browns safety Tashaun intercepted it.
The Colts’ first-string defense held the Browns’ first-string offense in check. Cleveland’s five first-half possessions resulted in four punts and a lost fumble, and a Browns team that looked very good through the first two weeks of the preseason hasn’t been able to get anything going.
With both teams in the locker room and the starters getting ready to give way to the backups, the Colts lead the Browns 10-0.
