Bears bounce 14, cut to 76

AP

All teams have until Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. ET to get to 75 players.  The Bears have to let only one more guy go.

Gone today are safety Tom Zbikowski, receiver Devin Aromashadu, defensive end Kyle Moore, running back Curtis Brinkley, defensive tackle Eric Foster, tackle A.J. Lindeman, center P.J. Lonergan, safety Derrick Martin, tight end Gabe Miller, tight end Leonard Pope, defensive tackle Brent Russell, linebacker Patrick Trahan, punter Tress Way, and linebacker Lawrence Wilson.

Zbikowski, a third-round pick from Notre Dame, spent four seasons with the Ravens.  Last year, he started 11 games with the Colts.

During the 2011 lockout, Zbikowski dabbled in boxing.  He said he’ll box again when football is over.

He may soon be boxing again.

  1. I’m glad the Bears have the luxury of letting go of so many starting caliber defensive players.

Green Bay should take a look at them-lord knows they need all the help they can get.

devin aromashodu beiung cut means Marquees Wilson makes the team……
He’s going to need 1 offseason to bulk up, but He’s going to be very good.

Exactly, Bears have many WR’s, Forte and Bush have a line and a TE upgrade. Anyone arguing in regards to a roster comparison…..good luck! Bears are stacked with weapons!

  3. Good ol filthymcd-bag is going to be very disappointed when his Packers go 7-9 this year. Swiss D and no O line is gonna hurt bud

Fendi Onobun is still on the teamafter all those drops ?

Yhea just till a team cuts someone better, I understand Fendi hasn’t even blocked well.

  5. they need to make room for an extra person to shop for a half decent backup to cutler, cause if he goes down, I don’t think they can win a game with there backups 😦 … hope he doesn’t get hurt, but with players like the lions suh guy who is a extremely dirty player, you gotta protect in case..

  6. My Packer team may be interested in Leonard Pope with how Jermichael Finley’s hands have been this season…Who am I kidding? Every Season…..

  7. WHY IS WEBB STILL ON THE CHICAGO BEARS?? WHY?? Emery should cut this bum now. please make my day and send this guy out of Chicago. It is insulting to Bears fans to think this bum is still here. the team can use the cap space

  8. BTW unless Washington gets cut, it will be the first time that I can remember that the whole Bears draft made the team (the cut)
And even if they did, none of them was put on the practice squad.
    Great Job Emery!

I see you are still around. still talking about Chicago as if green bay is the better team huh? Man the packers time has passed. you should worry
    1. about the O-line in Green bay
    2. about that whole defense Dom Capers is running and the FACT that they cant stop the read option play at all.
    3. the 3rd preseason game is dress rehersal for the season and Aaron Rodgers didnt play nothing but 3 downs. Is he HURT!
    4. the 49ers are looking to expose Dom and that sorry defense in game #1
    5. Cobb and Nelson cant stay on the field for more than to games with out getting hurt so Who will be the #1 WR.
If thats NOT enough WHY is Rodgers looking in Ryan Braun’s eyes or better than that how long before Jolly needs his next cup of purple drank.

Please stop, I can’t keep laughing like this. The Packers have owned the Bears over the last 20 years. The Bears have beaten the Packers once since 2008. Every year Bears fans say the same thing, “The Bears are way better than the Packers THIS year.” It’s really getting old.

  11. I was surprised to see Fendi Onobun wasn’t among the first cuts. He’s achieved unique levels of awfulness in the preseason so far.

Maybe they give him one last shot next week, but I wouldn’t even bother.

If I were forced to choose between him and Kellen Davis, I’d choose death.

    I agree with you…This may be the Bear’s year…

  13. WEEK #9 we will all see who is the better team this season. The packers was 1 game better last season. Chicago was 10-6 and 1 game out of the playoffs. Green bay was 11-5 and got Smoked! they shouldnt have been in the playoffs. this schedule will expose the weaker team long before the Bears and Packers meet. I cant wait for this season to start cause I dont know if I will be happier watching the Bears win or seeing the Packers lose.

  14. Wow u bears fans are so delusional. Talking trash about the defense and o line. When was the last time the bears beat GB? When was the last time they won the division? Better yet, when is the last time they won a SB? That’s what I thought. GB will run away with the division AGAIN this yr.

  15. “GB will run away with the division AGAIN this yr.”

No, they won’t…They didn’t run away with it last year, either, finishing one measly game ahead of the Bears and Vikes. It will be a tight race AGAIN this year.

    Go Bears!

I don’t know what planet you live on, but the Bears BARELY lose to the Packers every year with a couple of Clowns like Lovie and Tice running the show. There is nothing Delusional about an opinion before the season starts.

New Head Coach (Offensive minded genius according to many)
    New OC AND DC
    New O-line (MUCH IMPROVED)
    New TE’s

add that to a top Defense(turnover machine) in all of football with Forte/Bush and Brandon Marshall………..sounds pretty logical and rational to be excited to me. It’s not delusional at all it’s reality. Keep trying to tell yourself that it will be the same team as the past years. Packer’s have Rodgers and Matthews, without them your team is utter garbage…..

  17. The Bears are the NFC North team with the longest playoff drought – even longer than the Lions. I thought they were supposed to get better, but so far the ship still looks like its sinking.

  18. Filthymcnasty loves to point out the Bears’ “playoff drought.” Which is exactly… two years. Hmmm….

#1 in the NFC North means nothing if the team can’t get past San Fran. And the Packers have proven time and again that they are wholly incapable of getting that win. That porous defense can’t keep a lead when defense really counts: the playoffs. Sure Bears fans may get a #2, #3, or even #4 spot in the division, but we also get to enjoy watching the Pack get promptly bounced in their first playoff game.

And since this post has nothing to do with the Packers, I will move on from responding to trolls and mention how none of these roster moves surprise me. I do think Wilson sticks with the team at WR, but we shall see.

As a Packer fan, i’m sure you have heard of the long drought where the team was quite unsuccessful in the playoffs for an extended period of time. Granted, it was a while ago, but that’s the way this league works.

As this Bears team appears to be the most balanced team thus far in the preseason, I am excited to see how they perform.

(Also, we would have made the playoffs last year, had the Packers had enough in the tank to beat the Vikings in the final game.)

  20. It’s the same thing year after year from Bears fans. “This year we will own the Packers.” And then two months later. “If it wasn’t for X,Y,Z, we’d be the best, but next year is the year!”

  21. Email me at thetokyosandblasteratgmaildotcom if you want to be in the PFT NFC N Fantasy League.

Looking to have the draft on Monday night.

Need 2 more bears fans (Larry? Chi01town? Ososrules?)

    Need three more lions fans.
