Lions send Thad Lewis to the Bills

With EJ Manuel (knee) and Kevin Kolb (concussion-like symptoms) injured, the Bills are loading up on quarterbacks.

In addition to signing Matt Leinart, they’ve swung a deal with the Detroit Lions for Thaddeus Lewis, per a league source.

Lewis arrived in Detroit via a waivers claim in May.  He entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2010, with the Rams.

Though Leinart has the better pedigree, Lewis has a leg up in one key area — Lewis started a game in 2012, generating an 83.3 passer rating in a 24-10 loss to the Steelers.

Leinart generated a 44.4 passer rating in a pair of appearances for Oakland last season.

Apparently we traded Chris White to the Lions for Lewis rights.

Sweet so we got something for a waiver pick-up we were most likely gonna cut anyways

Maybe they wanted to get a peek into the Lions game plan for their pre-season game on Thursday night???

White is great on ST, he’s a MLB, great kid.

Lets hope White ends up being a player the Lions can use. Who knows maybe he will be an upgrade or a special teams ace

Meh, White wasn’t gonna make the 53-man roster anyway.

    Lewis probably won’t either.

My guess this is being done just for the sake of a rotation in the final preseason game. With Kolb almost certainly done at this point, my guess is the Bills QB depth chart will be EJ > Tuel > Leinart come week one.

Lewis is a tough guy, great teammate and oh by the way plays well in every opportunity he gets. If all he has to do is beat out Matt Leinart to make the Bills roster, I really like his chances.
