Steelers think Jones has only a deep bruise

AP

Steelers linebacker Jarvis Jones, the 16th overall pick in the draft, has exited the hospital after suffering a chest injury on Saturday night against the Chiefs.

Per a league source, the team thinks Jones has a bruised sternum or chest.

For now, it’s unclear when Jones will play.  It’s also not clear that Jones will accept the diagnosis as conclusive.

Under the labor deal, every player has the right to seek a second opinion.  That could be the next step for Jones, whose status for Week One will remain up in the air until doctors have a better understanding of the precise injury and the timetable for recovery.

  1. Seems pretty straight forward. The guy intercepted a pass and was tackled from behind and landed on the ball at full speed. Probably in a world of pain right now but has 2 weeks to rest up.

  2. “because he plays for a weak pathetic franchise with bad ownwership”… Its funny because its coming from a Bengals fan.

  3. Wow Bengal guy didnt post with his usual “Old slow team” comment. I was hoping you would use the same comment for every steeler story on here Bengalguy, because that it would confirm your limited vocabulary is due to your limited IQ. You would think a Bengal fan would not attack the ownership of the steelers, kind of like the pot calling the kettle black. There’s a reason why your team is referred to as the BUNGULS, because even when you do get lucky enough to have a good player, your ownership always finds a way to screw it up. Maybe you better go back to your “old slow team” comments.

A deep bruise because he plays for a weak pathetic franchise with bad ownwership and worse, self-intitled fans

Ha ha!!! That’s hilarious coming from a Bengals fan!! Talk about a weak, pathetic franchise with bad ownership…they are the epitome of that!!

  5. That just shows that Bengal guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about. The Steelers offered harrison money, he turned it down wanting more and ended up signing with the bungles for less. And steelers fans are not self-entitled. We are just passionate about our team, proud of them and show our support for them 24/7. Even in your dumpy stadium. Bengals “Fans” only come out when the team does good, which isn’t often.

Traded in a beast of a player like Harrison for the “pillow-like” Jones.

    Nice upgrade

Steelers got rid of an old, slow, washed up linebacker. And the Cinci franchise was dumb enough to pick him up. That is okay though, the fans of the Bengals love being losers, that’s why they won’t rebel and continue to support the pathetic Marvin Lewis.

  7. Steelers can’t catch a break. One of the few young guys on the team who can actually bring it, and he goes down with a weird “chest bruise” injury. Get used to it, Steeler fans, a lot of your guys will be going down to injury this season.

  8. Bengalguy. Steeler fans are not self entitled. There is a huge difference between being self entitled, and expecting to win the division, conference and SB. Steeler fans have just come to expect to always be in the chase for the SB. The same can be said for other franchises like the Patriots. Franchises likes the Bengals however, are just accustomed to settling for much less.
It is also amusing that for years other teams fans like the Bengals, have said Harrison was over rated or a cheap shot artist, but now that he’s on the Bengals, he’s a beast ? You’re a true homer if I ever saw one. That’s the difference between you and I. I can recognize true talent even if the player is on a rival. I don’t troll other teams posts just to make negative comments.

  9. glad he will be back. he was in beast mode against KC last night. I like his potential. there are a lot of young guys on the steelers with talent. they have quietly rebuilt a few pieces of that team while remaining competitive.

  10. Jeeeeeeeez Squealer fans….did I hit an exposed nerve???

Get over it boys your team will be back once your Rapeist of a QB and Coach retire!

Yes Squealer fans I said COACH! You do realize since that bug eyed coach took over for the team that Cower built for him, the organization has been in steady decline! Poor drafts, bad internal decisions and personal agendas have derailed this once proud franchise.
All you Steeler fans that live on the ” We were great once” theory should get tough with the owners & coaching staff and let your TRUE feelings be known. Your sick of the poor drafting.
You wont be back to the playoffs until you fire Tomlin, get an OLine & a RB……absolutely hilarious your Pathetic franchise keeps letting you suffer.
As a true Bengals fan….I LOVE IT!!!

Have @ it boys…..bring it on!!!!

  11. Being a Steelers fan myself, I freely admit that we have a sense of entitlement. Now saying that, it should also be freely admitted by most other fans (see AFC North fans in particular who the Steelers have run roughshod on for a decade and change) that you get awful bitter real fast and overly celebrate when we have a “down” year (code for not winning the division and/or a Superbowl).

Our down years (see last year’s 8-8) is a lot of other teams up years…so I guess go ahead and celebrate because you know it won’t last long. Rooney’s are very patient Owner and don’t panic when there is some downtime. Add in one of the best GM in the game and the ship will soon be at the front of the pack.

That, is not entitlement. That’s just facts and a history to back it up.

Without LeBeau, this team goes 4-12. Yes, Tomlin is very much in the hot seat.

Your comment shows you know nothing about how the steelers work. Maybe you should not post here and use your time more wisely on raven things…..like collect change to build a statue for crazy Ray Ray.

  13. Obviously bengalfan knows nothing about football. The steelers roster is young they only have 4 players left from the cowher era. So how is that old? Half of you steeler haters have no real arguments here. Jealousy will get you nowhere in life.

Now we have a bungal troll to match our chief raven troll JFM….hate to say it but bungal troll needs to double his IQ to match his counterpart…..sigh …still wont be a room temperature IQ .

  15. A smidgen of success to a Bungle fan is like giving drugs to an addict who just got of jail for the wknd. They both don’t know how to act when they get it.

  16. Hey I’m a Bengal fan and I have grr’d the existence of JH for years. But after seeing HK. Dude is the truth.

How can you let a real Pro like that go.

Gotta respect JH he is a pros pro. No matter his jersey.

But Tomlin has not restocked the cupboards from Cowher. That’s a fact.

  17. Lol whoever said Colbert is the best GM on football needs to step away from the kool aid. He is not even the best GM in the division and not even the second best either.

Ozzie Newsome and Mike Brown have drafted much better.

  18. The Bengals will NEVER come close to what the steelers have achieved.(beat it Bengalguy) On a side note, its great to see Jarvis Jones playing good ball, the steelers did their homework when they drafted this guy. He’s going to be become a great player in this league.

  19. @coachbleck

In Colbert’s tenure he has had three Super Bowl appearances and two Super Bowl victories. Can those other guys say that? Can’t really argue that, and that is not even taking into account the Steelers have been the team to most consistently win the AFC north the past 13 years.

Its your opinion that those Gm’s have drafted better but your list is small and not to many Gm’s got a reume that with the fewest free agents built 3 SB worthy teams. Drafted as many All pros i can think of, Def player of the NFL, SB Mvp and a 2 time SB Qb. and many other teams on the doorstep of the big show not to mention to keep his team 1 of the most competitive in the NFL year in and year out. Steelers d been the best the last 2 years and no team has had it better in his tenure in that area so lets say Colbert drafts well..

  21. Let’s get back on topic.

So, it’s just a bruise? Is Jones being diagnosed by Dr. Rydze? Oh, wait. He’s under indictment for selling steroids and oxy.

Six rings. Now it all makes sense.

As a Browns fan I cannot talk smack or anything about the other teams in the division. Yes I do have a hatred for pretty much everything to do with the Steelers and the Ravens, but I am not here to try and bash the other teams. It does bother me however when you have such unknowledgeable homer fans.

Going into last years college season, Jarvis Jones was the unanimous projected #1 pick in the draft. He fell int he draft for some reason, potentially his previous neck injury, so you didnt do your homework, you lucked out that the other teams passed on him and he fell to #17 for you. Only time and truth will tell if he fell for a reason or if he is what he was previously hyped up to be.

  23. Look, a Steelers post, let’s Troll!

On the serious side – Jarvis Jones looks like a steal for Pittsburgh. It’s way too early to tell, but he’s already delivering on the hype that had many experts saying he was a Top 5 draft pick.

For all those bashing Colbert and Tomlin, the Steelers are 32-16 over the last three years. Despite what the revisionist historians will tell you, Cowher had a few rough patches through his career, and his last season wasn’t anything to write home about. So saying that the team was only good because of Cowher’s influence is completely false.
