Steelers think Jones has only a deep bruise

Jones

Steelers linebacker Jarvis Jones, the 16th overall pick in the draft, has exited the hospital after suffering a chest injury on Saturday night against the Chiefs.

Per a league source, the team thinks Jones has a bruised sternum or chest.

For now, it’s unclear when Jones will play. It’s also not clear that Jones will accept the diagnosis as conclusive.

Under the labor deal, every player has the right to seek a second opinion. That could be the next step for Jones, whose status for Week One will remain up in the air until doctors have a better understanding of the precise injury and the timetable for recovery.
