Andrew Hawkins sheds walking boot, Andrew Whitworth without a timetable for return

The Bengals got good news about right tackle Andre Smith this weekend when the MRI on the left knee he tweaked against the Cowboys came back clean.

That means Smith is on track to start in Week One, but it’s not so clear if Andrew Whitworth will be lining up on the opposite side of the offensive line. Whitworth has been in and out of practice all summer because of knee troubles and has yet to play in a preseason game. On Monday, Whitworth spoke to reporters and didn’t have much to say as far as a timetable for his return.

“I’m in the middle of the process,” Whitworth said, via Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer.

While Whitworth waits to advance, another injured Bengal named Andrew is making a bit more tangible process in his recovery from injury. Wide receiver Andrew Hawkins ditched the walking boot and cast from his injured ankle, although Geoff Hobson of the team’s website reports that he’s still considered a likely candidate to wind up on injured reserve with the designation to return. That would mean he’s out of at least the first eight weeks of the regular season, but his improvement raises the likelihood that he’ll contribute at some point in the season.

None of it matters, they’ll always be the Bungals.

they will still win that weak division. Pitt sucks, Baltimore spent to much on Flacco, and Cleveland is still Cleveland.

They need Whitworth healthy. Hes a big piece of the puzzle.

Hawkins and Whitworth should just take the season off and heal their injuries. Bengals will be losers was usual, maybe they can win 1 game when the Ravens rest their starters week 17. If they get healthy maybe another team will sign them next season, and they can get out of the worst football city in the NFL.

Whitworth is doing a Michael Strahan here. After preseason game 4 the headline will be “Whitworth makes great strides!”

And the Ravens never deserved to win that SB with Jimmy Smith mugging Crabtree and getting away with it…….so just take your tainted SB win and keep quiet…..you stole the SB and got away with it fool

The more people troll the better I know that the Bengals look! Don’t waste your time responding to those trolls, they have nothing better to do so just ignore them.
I really hope Whit is playing possum if not it will hurt this teams ability to win. Not to mention our schedule starts off very tough.
    Who Dey!

Hawkins doesn’t matter anyway. Bungles 1 and done at best.

A Healthy LT is a Must. Hawkins can be replaced.

The Bengals look ready to make the leap- provided Andy Dalton somehow becomes better than what he is now- the 3rd best QB in the AFC North.

Whitworth will be just fine! Hawkins can go to the PUP list.

Preseason is a bad proposition for all teams. When each play is a glorified auto accident in uniforms, established players cannot afford to be on the same playing field with un-drafted free agents and 6th rounders that would club their own mother like baby seal to make the practice squad.

Whitworth is on the beginnings of the downside of his career. He has to stay out of the preseason. In fact, I would give him a limo ride to the field and let him dress during the National Anthem.

Look @ all the Bengals haters in here. This a Bengals article what are you doing reading it if the Bengals are that terrible. Everyone of you should be on edge if we play your team. Cincinnati has the strongest and deepest roster they have had in years and this season ain’t gonna go the way you think it is. As for the Raiders fans thanks for the draft picks and it was a pleasure stomping you In the ground last season.
