Broken shoulder the latest setback for Moeaki

It would be tempting to say Chiefs tight end Tony Moeaki can’t catch a break.

But actually, he catches too many of them.

According to Randy Covitz of the Kansas City Star, Moeaki suffered a shoulder fracture in Saturday night’s preseason game, and there’s no word on how long he’ll be out.

Late preseason injuries are nothing new for Moeaki, who missed the 2011 season after blowing out his knee in the last preseason game.

He wasn’t a stranger to injuries in college either, but has been a productive player when well. The Chiefs signed Anthony Fasano in free agency and drafted Travis Kelce, so it won’t impact the team as much this time through.

But it’s another blow for a player who showed considerable promise.

Moeaki has one of the best last names in the NFL.

Another Pioli bust. Remember his rookie season he was being heralded as this great draft pick. Why, I still don’t know because he’s not a great blocker and certainly isn’t a difference maker in the passing game.

make a rule that prohibits defenders from hitting players up high

unintended consequence: the number of injuries increase as a result.

Should have pawned him off on the Pats earlier.

He’s done in KC. The new regime is not invested in him. Looks great when he’s healthy, but he is never healthy. He is to TE as McFadden is to RB. He will be trade bait before this season is over.
