Gilmore to miss eight weeks with hand/wrist injury

In case it wasn’t bad enough, the Bills now have injury issues that transcend the quarterback position.

According to Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports, cornerback Stephon Gilmore will miss about eight weeks with a hand and wrist injury. That could cost him five or six regular season games.

Gilmore was injured during Saturday’s preseason game with the Redskins, in what was a costly exhibition for the Bills, coupled with the serious concussion suffered by quarterback Kevin Kolb.

Gilmore’s becoming one of the top young corners in the league, and his absence for any amount of time will be tough for the Bills to cover.

And with the opening game against Brady….damn damn damn! Open season on McKelvin.

Maybe the Bills should forfeit the pre-season finale against Detroit this week.
Got to avoid that injury bug somehow.

Wow! If there was any argument to reduce preseason games or eliminate them all together it would be this year and all the injuries.

Bills need to not rush EJ back and ease him into the season and not risk further injury to his knee.

Drafting Clowney first overall is seeming more and more likely everyday.

This is CRUSHING for a building team. CB was our thinnest position heading into camp, now its transparent.

We HAVE to sign someone to fill this hole somehow. There is no way inspiring names like Leodis Mckelvin, Ron Brooks and Nickell Robey are going to live long on their own

Och! Pettine’s Defensive system puts tons of pressure on the cornerbacks to be able to cover 1 on 1. As far as I can see Gilmore was the only legit cover corner on this team. Plus he might be the 2nd best player on this team after Spiller.

I have never heard of losing two QB in Pre-season to injury and your starting CB. That is crazy. I love the Bills, but it is not easy to root for them. It is seriously not for the weak.

That is terrible. Feel bad for him, and the Bills. They’ve been hit hard with the injury bug this preseason.

    That sucks.

How nice would it be to have Drayton Florence back on our team? The Bills have to hope when teams make cuts to the 53 man roster, they somehow can pick up a veteran CB that can still play that maybe got beat out by a 1st or 2nd CB rookie.

Buffalo Bills … unluckiest franchise in all of sports.

I wonder what the line will be when they play the Patriots in the season opener?

You can blame the recent rash of injuries on the players union. Many lazy players were tired of practices and wanted to only practice once a day. So now they are paying for it for not having their bodies conditioned.

This makes the QB situation now seem tame.

Huh… I wonder how Goodell will handle the injuries next year? No contact in the Preseason?

  21. rbanks51 says: Aug 26, 2013 1:51 PM

Thank god one of our best players was forced to play a practice game that means nothing. Hopefully Spiller gets 20 carries this week because pre-season is so important and these guys need the practice.

Maybe this pre-season nonsense will cost the billionaires more than they make from it.
