PFT Live: Torrey Smith, Bob Glauber

Divisional Playoffs - Baltimore Ravens v Denver Broncos Getty Images

The Ravens traded wide receiver Anquan Boldin and lost tight end Dennis Pitta to a hip injury, leaving plenty of room for wide receiver Torrey Smith to step into a larger role in the offense.

Mike Florio will talk to Smith about that change in circumstance on Monday’s edition of PFT Live. We’ll find out Smith’s expectations for the offense this season and talk to him about what the Ravens need to do in order to navigate their way back to the Super Bowl again this season.

Florio will also talk to Bob Glauber of Newsday after a busy weekend for the two teams that call MetLife Stadium home. The Jets quarterback competition took a turn for the surreal as Geno Smith threw three picks and Mark Sanchez hurt his shoulder while playing with backups in the fourth quarter, touching off the latest memorable Rex Ryan press conference. The Giants, meanwhile, lost safety Stevie Brown for the season to a torn ACL and activated defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul from the PUP list to alter their defensive look in a couple of ways with the opener fast approaching.

another useless player with ONE route he runs…….with Fako throwing 3 picks a game now that Boldin isn’t there to rip the ball out of defenders hands this year we will see the rats revert back to what they actually are…….lousey

show some respect steelers. ravens are the reigning SUPER BOWL champions.

Thought he was a one route runner coming out of college too but he’s quite diverse in that regard. Nice fades, slants and shallow crossing patterns. He’s on the verge of becomgin a true top #1 receiver. Great routes and nice hands.

Good guyy off the field too, it appears.

Josh, ask him if he thinks Tandon Doss will finally step up this season.

    Thanks!

Torrey is just one of a large group of wide receivers who will shread Pittsburgh’s swiss cheese secondary this year. It’s going to be fun watching Polamalu constantly bonk heads with Clark and Gay, 3 Stooges style, while Torrey leisurely strides in for six.

  5. steelersownu says: Aug 26, 2013 2:07 PM

yeah sure Flacco lover……Flacco will be exposed for the phoney he is…..he throws more INT’s this year than TD’s……and the Super Bowl was a joke as Jimmy Smith never got called for pass interference on Crabtree (an obvious mugging) at a crucial time in the game that would surely have won the game for the 49’ers……Rats stole the SB plain and simple
So stop with the “super bowl champs”…..you never should have won that game

  6. rottenbellybutton says: Aug 26, 2013 2:36 PM

stealersownno1: Don’t put Flacco in Ben’s category when it comes to throwing int’s. You shouldn’t talk about officiating seeing as how SB XL was the worst officiated SB in nfl history. The stealers were given that game, Bill Leavy even admitted this fact. So stop claiming “super bowl champs” for that season…..you never should have won that game.

Steelers had the #1 pass defense in the NFL last year…..what are you babbling about?

@steelersownu you need to lighten up because that kind of hate will raise your blood pressure and that ain’t healthy.

Despite all the “if this happened they would have lost” crap the REALITY is they did win so they are super bowl champs.

In case you haven’t looked at your team’s roster the Steelers don’t “own” much right now.

Fact is that you obnoxious Raven fans need to stop with the gloating…..the refs gave you a BIG gift by not calling that PI call on Jimmy Smith because everyone saw it….and the Ravens got their asses kicked in the 2nd half,,,in fact if they would have lost that would have been the greatest collapse in SB history…….so basically shut up and take your tainted SB victory ….consider it a gift…you won’t see another for a LONG time

Steelers’ fans never admit they lost a game. It’s always blamed on some unknown force outside of their control. They are professional victims, not victors. And the poorest of sports. Right now, they are in the pre-season basement and they continue to mouth off like spoiled rotten brats. Steelersownu should be Steelersoweu — an apology.

I didn’t come on here gloating. You came on here with the old – “if it happened in my alternate universe you’d lose argument”. In my alternate universe Bane successfully blew up the stadium at halftime (instead of just the lights) and had a nuclear weapon traveling through New Orleans. You see my version is just as realistic as yours. Neither actually happened. Ravens did win.

Flacco is a candy ass and way overachieved last January…….just long enough to extort 100 million from the idiot Raven front office……you will see him throw a lot of INT’s this year and I can’t wait to rub it in

  13. tkrammer818 says: Aug 26, 2013 5:16 PM

Im neither a ravens or steelers fan. But i will say that the ravens did not steal that super bowl. The league pulled the plug on a blowout that only favored the winers by letting them regroup and comeback. We were looking at a blowout in the making and all credit goes to Flacco for stepping up and leading the way. Thank you Baltimore for taking it to san fran… Go Rams.

I think you are being a bit one-sided in your trolling Steelersownu. Pretty convenient you try to make such a strong case for pass interference on Crabtree yet completely omit the p.i. on Torrey Smith earlier in the game. So let’s be fair here.

And in keeping with fairness, if we want to mention SB gifts- I don’t see any Steeler fan having any problem adding the gift the refs gave you against Seattle when you tally your precious total of 6 rings all the time….

  15. steelersownu says: Aug 26, 2013 5:56 PM

49’ers made a big come back in the 2nd half and would have taken the game if the Jimmy Smith mugging was called properly like they do all season….all I am asking for is consistency ….as far as SB XL…..the offensive PI for the push off in the end zone by the Seahawk receiver was the RIGHT call…….not a ‘gift’ for the Steelers….the Ravens got a blatant non-call for defensive PI that held Crabtree from making it to the corner of the endzone in time ….. that should have been called and it would have given 49’ers 1st and goal at the one……if the Ravens can stop them then they win…if not 49ers win…..the call has to be made

Ok kiddos lets play nice. The truth is Smith will get his on us, and we will also get ours on them. I think the Ravens have a good team, probably better than us because of Ray Rice, but I still think we split due to the rivalry. If not we will remedy it next season, now I do agree that getting rid of Keenan Lewis was stupid. Probably as bad as Chris Hope in 2005 to the Titans. I don’t think we have a guy who will do what he did. He was the reason A.J. Green, and Torrey didnt have as big of a season. I think they will on our secondary now to be honest. It’s no surprise Were (Pgh) a few years away from a good team, we have issues on the offensive line. Also our guys need to stay healthy to have a shot at a wild card coz the Bengals will win our division if all goes the right way for them. I’m just being pragmatic, I love my Steelers but we gotta be honest as well..

  17. lovefootball4life says: Aug 26, 2013 7:35 PM

Ok where are the hidden cameras? Who is this really? No one is this clueless. Someone is playing a joke here right?

  18. clashers says: Aug 26, 2013 10:02 PM

Even if the niners did score there was like 1:45 left and I think the Ravens had all 3 time outs.

  19. ravensfan996 says: Aug 27, 2013 10:05 PM

@steelersownu; your right, the Ravens stole the SB…..the way that the Steelers ……..”stole” the SB when Rothlisberger “scored” the TD against the Seahawks? Get over yourselves, and face it, the Baltimore Ravens are the SB Champions!!!!!
