Barkevious Mingo to run today after bruised lung

The Browns still aren’t sure when first-rounder Barkevious Mingo will be able to play again, but they’ll get an indication of his progress today when he runs.

Mingo hasn’t done much since suffering a bruised lung against the Lions on August 15, but will test himself this afternoon.

“He’s doing better and he continues to be monitored and is actually going to run a little bit today,” Browns coach Rob Chudzinski said, via Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “We have no timetable. We’ll just have to see how he progresses and how he heals.”

Because of the unusual nature of the injury, the Browns are at a bit of a loss when it comes to providing a time frame. But Chudzinski said there’s no plan to put Mingo on injured reserve/designated for return, indicating that they think he’ll be back sooner rather than later.

Even coming from a Ravens fan, I am seriously glad he is doing better. It’ll be GREAT to have a division with 4 competitve teams. I think ALL of our division games with Bengals,Steelers, and Browns will be close this year. Actually, they were last year for the most part. Thats what makes me enjoy the AFC North so much.

Don’t rush this kid back. 2 wks removed from the initial injury is not a long time. He’s not a huge part of the DEF yet so why not rest him 2 more wks?

Based on everything I’ve read since this injury I just can’t figure out how they are ever going to deem him “ready to play”. They have no idea what caused it, no hits were made, no damaged or broken ribs. It just seems like when he eventually does take a hard shot to the rib area is when there’s going to be real trouble.

Such a cool name for a football player. Hope he’ll be able to play, but I surely don’t want to watch him get hit and die. Must be tough on his family.
