Broncos place J.D. Walton on reserve PUP list, Quinton Carter on injured reserve

The Broncos are at 75 players after a pair of housekeeping moves involving injured players.

Center J.D. Walton will go from the active PUP list to the reserve PUP list, which takes him off the roster and bars him from returning to action for the first six weeks of the regular season. That shouldn’t be a problem as Walton isn’t expected to be ready before that point after offseason ankle surgery. Walton also missed most of the 2012 season with a fractured ankle, so the recurrent problems in that area could make it difficult for him to be a factor this year. Manny Ramirez will start at center for the Broncos.

The Broncos also placed safety Quinton Carter on injured reserve, ending his season before it even started. Carter originally injured his knee last September, had surgery that ended his season and then had a setback in camp. The 2011 fourth-round pick was in the mix to start at safety, but Duke Ihenacho will likely line up with Rahim Moore next Thursday night.

Poor Donkeys will not be Superbowl winners anytime soon.

No suprises in either case. Hopefully JD can be available this season if needed. Carter, better to lose a season than a career by coming back too quickly. Broncos to go 12 – 4, clinch division and move forward through playoffs to the SB.

Haven’t they had 3 or 4 centers go down in camp and the preseason ?

Not sure who they even have under center these days, but if he doesn’t get a lot of reps with Manning that could be a real trouble point in the first couple games.

No surprises… Broncos will be fine as long as they can stay healthy here on out… and will also Super Bowl contenders.
