Goodson was back in the locker room Tuesday, and admitted his arrest in May on weapons and drugs charges was “embarrassing.” He said his absence since then was a “personal matter.”
“I just have my life in order (now),” Goodson said, via Seth Walder of the New York Daily News. “I was able to get my life in order and able to just look at some things that I wasn’t happy with in myself.”
Goodson has always been a talented player with maturity issues (on and off the field), but the Jets appear willing to give him a chance to collect himself. As one of General Manager John Idzik’s first free agent signings, they need that, if only to save face.
But saving Goodson from himself might be a bigger win.
