No clearance yet for Griffin

It’s not a shock that Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III reportedly will start the regular-season opener on Monday Night Football.

But it’s at least a mild surprise that the report has emerged before Griffin has received final medical clearance from Dr. James Andrews.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, medical clearance hasn’t been given yet.  The final evaluation will be made, we’re told, at some point after the last preseason game.

For now, Griffin is on course and doing great.  Still, Dr. Andrews has yet to give Griffin the green light.

Maybe, just maybe, someone from the team leaked that Griffin will start in order to nudge the light toward that color, if the decision from Dr. Andrews is in any way a close call.

Shanny will throw him to the dogs once he’s sure he has a fall guy.

    So RGIII is a liar?

    Doesn’t surprise me!

  4. ravanator says: Aug 28, 2013 10:48 AM

Dr. Andrews does not want to give clearence to Griffin because he knows what a terrible QB he is after working with him this offseason. Don’t know why R-Words fans are drooling over Griffin, he accomplished nothing last year and has no future.

If andrews clears him to play and he gets injured again who will be blamed?

  6. ravenssuggskoch says: Aug 28, 2013 10:52 AM

ravanator must be embarassed his qb sucks and there’s such a strong franchise just a few miles south.

so if he gets hurt again, it’s a definite that it was because he is not fully healthy? injuries happen. he could come back and be 100% and simply get hurt again

  9. ravanator says: Aug 28, 2013 10:57 AM

All 31 other franchises in the NFL agreed in a poll that they were ecstatic they didn’t throw away draft picks to trade up for this fool. Griffin being drafted by the R-Words doomed this team for many years to come. Enjoy!

Doesnt matter if he is ready or not b/c they also have a stud second year player named Alfred Morris who will be able to help them get into the post season and one of the best backup QB’s in the league. I would be happy to be a skins fan right now.

  11. riverace19 says: Aug 28, 2013 11:03 AM

Morris directly benefitted from the read option and RGIII’s remarkable season… There were times when defenses had no idea who was coming off the line with the ball.

This has officially gotten Tebow…Hernandez… Favre….Jet’s….Kluwe…style old.

I don’t care about any update or article or segment or anything with regards to his knee. Let’s all just wait and see. Patience is ok.

Newsflash: Adam Shefter is not a Redskins official.

It was never officially announced. Therefore, no one should be surprised.

Someone called RGIII a “liar.” Why? Shefter reported this news, not RGIII. Comments against Shanahan or Griffin are unwarrented…they are not Shefter.

  19. rgtdnot3 says: Aug 28, 2013 11:28 AM

starting week 1 doesn’t mean anything but waiting and seeing whether he’s the same guy and can improve or isn’t…but, that being said, at least know how to spell “raven”, ravanator

I think you are right that this is done to nudge Andrews in a certain direction. But I think it’s a horrible idea. If I’m Dr. Andrews, I’m looking at this and thinking “if this guy goes out and blows out his knee again, the skins are going to throw me under the buss.”

If I’m him, and it’s close, I don’t give him clearance and go the “better safe than sorry” treatment

A flat out lie. There is no way you can convince me that in the euphoria of a SB win, with 50 “random” fans, you didn’t get one fanboy saying “Flacco is the best EVER!!!”. It’s just not possible

Unless this is a class on how easy it is to just make stuff up with a “random” and undocumented survey?

  25. jimmyt says: Aug 28, 2013 12:23 PM

Starting a second year QB, coming off a serious injury/surgery/rehab that hasn’t even taken one pre-season snap? Is Shanahan really that dumb? I guess so, seems like it most of the time.

  26. justintuckrule says: Aug 28, 2013 12:25 PM

Desperate moribund franchise starving for relevance and attention will capitulate to its dopey fanbase and start the guy no matter what.

A smart team with a confident owner would have taken the decision and bluster right away from the coach and player by throwing the guy right on I.R. light without giving it second thought.

Uh-huh, sure. Now ask them if they would trade three first and one second rounder for him to start their team. Class back in session.

“AGAIN: 32 out of 32 NFL owners stated, ….”

hey, before class lets out….. 31 of the 32 nfl teams are privately owned. i’m just curious if this was something that you overlooked, when stating your falsehood deemed by you as fact; or did you actually go out and survey all 231,000 green bay packer certificate holders in compiling your data. i’ll wait.

  33. gibson34 says: Aug 28, 2013 1:08 PM

seriously people….can we all move on from RGIII? there are at least 20 others teams better than this team and org and all that is posted is RGiii this and that.

They are going to finish last and we lucky last year since the rest of the nfc east was all banged up. we are all healthy now and will be going after the knee and his name will then be IRIII retired….lmao.

  35. naughtygod1 says: Aug 28, 2013 2:24 PM

20 years from now we will watch the canton speech of Cousins of how he took over from RG3 in his third year and then led the redskins to multiple conference finals for many years to come.

Geez, haven’t seen a press conference from RGIIIS in ……..12 hours. Should be named TOIII.
