James Casey hasn’t had much luck staying healthy since coming to the Eagles.

Casey had his knee scoped in May, costing him some offseason work with the team he joined as a free agent after leaving the Texans, and he left Thursday night’s preseason finale against the Jets in the first half with a hamstring injury. There’s no word on the severity, although it probably wouldn’t have taken much more that a tweak for the Eagle and Casey to call it a night and set sights for the Redskins on Monday Night Football on September 9.

Assuming Casey is healthy, the Eagles are well stocked at tight end with Brent Celek and rookie Zach Ertz joining Casey at the position. Casey didn’t play as much as the other two guys in the first two preseason games, but all three figure to have decent-sized roles in the team’s offense given how much the Eagles have used their tight ends in the preseason.

Casey had two catches in the first three preseason games and had 34 catches in Houston last season.
