Brandon Hardin cut by Bears too

The Bears haven’t officially announced any of their cuts yet, but we’ve already heard from quarterback Jordan Palmer and tackle J’Marcus Webb about their releases and the names of now-former Bears are continuing to leak out.

Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that safety Brandon Hardin is also being cut loose. It’s an unexpectedly quick end to Hardin’s time in Chicago as he was a third round pick last season in General Manager Phil Emery’s first draft as the man in charge in Chicago, but the team obviously decided that it was better for them to move on than to hold out hope that their selection would be proven correct.

Hardin never played a game for the Bears as he missed all of last season with a neck injury. He does have practice squad eligibility, so the Bears could re-sign him for a spot there if he clears waivers.

Biggs also reports that the Bears are releasing wide receiver Josh Lenz and safety Tom Nelson as well.

So Emery’s prized 3rd round pick has been thrown out on the scrapheap.

    Another sign of incompetence?

I like what Phil Emery is doing, but maybe this is a sign that the Angelo style of drafting is a bad idea. That is, pick a guy in early in the draft that hasn’t played in a year and have him switch positions when he gets to the NFL. Probably not a great idea.

Hardin’s an athlete with great measurables, I was hoping he could get molded into something.

Disappointing to say the least but if you cant stay healthy and on the field, ya gotta go.

I think this is a lot more indicative of Wright/Conte doing a good job and Steltz being a good backup. I think Hardin probably makes the practice squad.
