Broncos bounce Lance Ball

Ball

The good news for Broncos running back Lance Ball is that he’s no longer on the bottom of the depth chart. The bad news is that he’s no longer on the depth chart at all.

Via Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com, Ball has tweeted that the team has released him.

The move avoids a $1.323 million base salary that would have essentially been guaranteed if Ball had been a member of the opening-day roster, given that he has four years of NFL service.

The departure of Lance Ball opens the door for undrafted rookie C.J. Anderson, who has tweeted that he made the team.

Ball had no starts but 41 appearances in three seasons with the Broncos. In 2011, he rushed for a career-high 402 yards on 96 carries.
