In addition to the earlier news about linebacker Brian Banks, the Falcons did some more cutting Friday.

The team announced they placed quarterback Sean Renfree and tight end Andrew Szczerba on injured reserve, and released the following players: Guard Theo Goins, defensive tackle Neal Huynh, cornerback Terrence Johnson, safety Charles Mitchell, defensive tackle Micanor Regis, tackle Alec Savoie, linebacker Pat Schiller, kicker Jeremy Shelley, cornerback Peyton Thompson and running back Ronnie Wingo.

Renfree was chosen in the seventh round this year, left Thursday’s game with a shoulder injury. That caused backup Dominique Davis, the only other passer behind Matt Ryan on the roster, to have to re-enter the game against the Jaguars.

Mitchell was a sixth-round pick last year, but the majority of those released were undrafted rookies. The moves get the Falcons down to 62 players, leaving nine more transactions to be made before tomorrow’s deadline.
