One of the most inspirational stories of the preseason is ending, but not before a final flourish.

According to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports, the Falcons are releasing linebacker Brian Banks, ending the comeback for a player who was 10 years removed from organized football after being wrongfully convicted of rape.

Banks was always a longshot because of the time he spent away from the game, but that never changed his approach.

In fact, Glazer reports that Falcons owner Arthur Blank was so impressed by Banks during his time with the team that he’s trying to find a career opportunity for him in the Atlanta area.

Banks’ grace in dealing with a situation that would have made most bitter and resentful is impressive, and should serve him well in whatever business he ends up in next.
