Ravens cut 11, including Caleb Hanie

Given that they have a short week in front of them, with the regular season opener on Thursday, the Ravens are taking care of business as early as possible.

They’ve already made most of their cuts, announcing they had waived 11 players: Running back Anthony Allen, seventh-round rookie cornerback Marc Anthony, linebacker Nigel Carr, running back Delone Carter, inside linebacker Brandon Copeland, quarterbacks Caleb Hanie and Dayne Crist, offensive tackles Jordan Devey and Rogers Gaines, center Reggie Stephens and tight end Alex Silvestro, and placed outside linebacker D.J. Bryant on injured reserve.

The Ravens had just traded for Carter in a swap of unwanted parts with the Colts, and Hanie’s departure sets the stage for them to go into the season with just two quarterbacks, Joe Flacco and Tyrod Taylor.

The moves get their roster to 63, meaning they still have 10 moves to make.

Elam didn’t get cut? They must look at him as a project.

Actually, I am a bit surprised that Marc Anthony was cut. One, it’s rare for the Ravens to cut a first-year draft pick, no matter how low, and two, I thought he had a decent game last night. Oh well.

    Tandon Doss survives again… bah…

After watching Hanie play for the Bears, I’m shocked he wasn’t out of the league 2 years ago.

They’re looking to trade for Doss. He plays well on ST so you don’t just cut a player like that. I don’t envy them having to make these last cuts coming tomorrow

What happened to Delone Carter? A week or so ago, Ozzie was a genius for signing this gem according to you, and other teams were jealous that this guy was no longer available. Now the guy is a free agent again. I thought he was the second coming of Barry Sanders according to your earlier posts.

Also, so what if they destroy the Steelers, they still have to play 14 more games. 2-14 will not win the division.
