The Chargers confirmed the release of wide receiver Robert Meachem on Saturday, one of 11 moves the club made in setting its roster at 53 players, according to Chargers.com.

San Diego released 10 other players: tackle Nick Becton, linebacker Frank Beltre, tight end Ben Cotton, cornerback Marcus Cromartie, defensive end Logan Harrell, running back Michael Hill, cornerback Josh Johnson, linebacker Thomas Keiser, center David Molk and tight end David Rolf.

A 2012 seventh-round pick, Molk appeared in four games for the Chargers as a rookie. Keiser has played in 12 regular-season games in his NFL career, all as a reserve with Carolina.

“I thanked all of the players for giving us their 100 percent effort and dedication,” Chargers head coach Mike McCoy said, according to the club’s website. “They all worked extremely hard and gave us everything they had. Days like this are never easy. I have been in their shoes. I was cut five times by five different teams. I feel for these men.”

Is so nice to have a coach who’s actually played football before. Don’t miss ya, Norv.

Norv was a Qb for the Oregon Ducks. He was Dan Fouts’ backup.
