The Cowboys have acquired outside linebacker Edgar Jones from Kansas City, the Chiefs said on their website on Saturday night.
Kansas City will receive a draft pick from Dallas, but the exact compensation has not been disclosed.
Jones (6-3, 262) recorded seven special teams tackles for Kansas City in 2012. He previously had stints with Baltimore and Washington.
Jones may project as a backup defensive end or strong-side linebacker in Dallas’ 4-3 defense, and he surely would be a contributor on special teams.
The trade leaves the Chiefs with 52 players, one short of the 53-player limit.
