The Jets have announced, two hours after the deadline for getting to 53 players, the moves they made to get there.

As previously reported, here and/or elsewhere, quarterback Greg McElroy, defensive tackle Antonio Garay, and kicker Dan Carpenter are gone.

McElroy was waived with an injury designation.  If he’s not claimed on waivers, he’ll revert to the team’s injured reserve list.

Also gone from the active roster are running back Mike Goodson (reserve/suspended), running back Mossis Madu, receiver Michael Campbell, receiver Mohamed Massaquoi, receiver Ben Obamanu, receiver Zach Rogers, tight end Chris Pantale, offensive lineman Erik Cook, offensive lineman J.B. Shugarts, offensive lineman Jason Smith, defensive lineman Junior Aumavae, defensive lineman Lanier Coleman, defensive lineman Tevita Finau, linebacker Troy Davis, linebacker JoJo Dickson, linebacker Jacquies Smith, defensive back Royce Adams, defensive back Mike Edwards, and defensive back Rontez Miles.

The Jets have four quarterbacks on the 53-man roster, for now:  Geno Smith, Mark Sanchez, Matt Simms, and Graham Harrell.

The Jets have four quarterbacks on the 53-man roster , for now: Geno Smith, Mark Sanchez, Matt Simms, and Graham Harrell.

The Jets will have a tough decision with the first pick in the 2014 draft bypassing Clowney for Bridgewater as the Jets might have the worst QB group along with the Jags & the Raiders.

Time to get ready for the 45th anniversary !

I did the math, and those guys only add up to 1 1/3 QBs, not 4.

Is there a lottery in NFL drafts? Cause I think that’s the only the way the jets don’t get the number 1 overall pick

Don’t lie, everyone knows none of those guys can even spell QB

Dump them all but Geno Smith & Sanchez. Bring in Vince Young (who looked really good in Green Bay). Feed him to the early slaughter. Feed Sanchez to the latter slaughter. Give the job to Geno Smith in 2014 to keep or lose. And back him up with Vince Young. Who may beat him out with a full Post season to adjust.

Vince Young played for Marty Morningweg in Philly. So he knows that offense. And he can run around in it. Which he’ll need to do a lot of.

“jets trim roster to 53; keep 4 quarterbacks”

ok, I see why you shortened it, but the original, correct headline of/: “jets trim roster to 53; keep 4 guys in red jerseys and attach the inappropriate title of ‘quarterback’ to each as a belated April Fools Joke and a blatant attempt to allow their new head coach the right to draft clowney going in to the 2014 season”. that is a bit long isn’t it?

    ????????????????????????????????????????????

In other words, the Jets have trimmed their roster to 49 players because they STILL don’t have a quarterback.

I remember when the Giants beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl.

    Twice!

    Oh such happy times!

You see, the Patriots are known more for losing super bowls here in NJ.

The Jets have never lost a Super Bowl, thank you.
