Jets trim roster to 53, keep four quarterbacks

McElroy

The Jets have announced, two hours after the deadline for getting to 53 players, the moves they made to get there.

As previously reported, here and/or elsewhere, quarterback Greg McElroy, defensive tackle Antonio Garay, and kicker Dan Carpenter are gone.

McElroy was waived with an injury designation. If he’s not claimed on waivers, he’ll revert to the team’s injured reserve list.

Also gone from the active roster are running back Mike Goodson (reserve/suspended), running back Mossis Madu, receiver Michael Campbell, receiver Mohamed Massaquoi, receiver Ben Obamanu, receiver Zach Rogers, tight end Chris Pantale, offensive lineman Erik Cook, offensive lineman J.B. Shugarts, offensive lineman Jason Smith, defensive lineman Junior Aumavae, defensive lineman Lanier Coleman, defensive lineman Tevita Finau, linebacker Troy Davis, linebacker JoJo Dickson, linebacker Jacquies Smith, defensive back Royce Adams, defensive back Mike Edwards, and defensive back Rontez Miles.

The Jets have four quarterbacks on the 53-man roster, for now: Geno Smith, Mark Sanchez, Matt Simms, and Graham Harrell.
