Panthers release Fua, leaving one from 2011 Draft

The Panthers now have one player left from their 2011 draft class.

Granted, that one guy is pretty good — first overall pick Cam Newton. He’s just lonely.

PFT has learned the Panthers have released defensive tackle Sione Fua, who was the previous next-to-last man standing from that group.

In that draft, they used third-rounders on Terrell McClain and Fua, a fourth on cornerback Brandon Hogan, a fifth on return man Kealoha Pilares, sixths on Lawrence Wilson and Zachary Williams, and a seventh on Lee Ziemba.

Pilares is still on their IR after a knee injury this preseason, but Newton’s the only one on a field.

Cam Newton is pretty good? Questionable.
