Raiders keep four quarterbacks, too

Carter AP

With undrafted quarterback Matt McGloin outplaying fourth-rounder Tyler Wilson and Terrelle Pryor and Matt Flynn occupying the top two spots on the depth chart, the Raiders have opted to keep a quartet of quarterbacks on the 53-man roster.

The Raiders have opted to not keep defensive end Andre Carter (pictured), linebacker Omar Gaither, cornerback Joselio Hanson, tackle Tony Hills, safety Reggie Smith, defensive lineman Ryan Baker, defensive end David Bass, linebacker Billy Boyko, cornerback Chance Casey, guard Jason Foster, tight end Richard Gordon, receiver Greg Jenkins, safety Shelton Johnson, tight end Brian Leonhardt, guard Lamar Mady, kicker Justin Medlock, defensive tackle KurtTaufa’asau, linebacker Chase Thomas, receiver Conner Vernon, and running back Deonte Williams.

Also tackle Willie Smith was waived with the “injured” designation, and offensive lineman Tony Bergstrom was placed on injured reserve.  Finally, receiver Andre Holmes has been placed on the reserve suspended list.

Andre Carter was surprisingly good last year. He may have lost another step.

Joselio Hanson had a bad camp but will help a team as DB depth.

Richard Gordon is a great blocking TE but they must have liked the upside of their other TEs to let him go with the Ausberry injury.

The only reason the Raiders kept four QBs is because Reggie Mckenzie doesn’t want the world to know what a retarded pick Tyler Wilson was. Who has 4 Qbs? After cutting Vince Young aren’t the Packers down to 1?

I can see McKenzie and Thompson striking a deal for Matt Flynn if they decide to go with Pryor as their starter.

Lest we forget they’ve kept 2 punters on the 53 as well? I’m a Raiders fan but this doesn’t make sense

Why not just cut McGloin and put him on the practice squad? Hard to believe some team would actually claim him on waivers.

if you have 4 qb’s… it means you have no qb’s. -

Congrats Redskins……You’re doing the same thing the Raiders are doing!!!!

There is clearly a three way race for Lousy for Clowney between the Raiders, Jets and Jags.Raiders keep 4 QB’s that can’t start on any of the 29 other franchises than the Jets & Jags.

This will come in handy when they run the quadruple flea flicker!

Donkeystick, actually the raiders are doing what the skins are doing.. Only different is the redskins have one really good (pro bowl and offensive rookie of the year) another good(potential star(ter) in cousins and their 3rd string qb started in a SB. Pat white is being kept so a team within the division ( eagles ) don’t pick him up just to get some inside knowledge..

To even compare the redskins situation with the raiders shows you’re completely clueless.. What an idiot..

WIth 4 qbs in tow –if the Raiders still finish with the number 1 pick no way they take Clowny over a Luck like QB –if one is available

  17. steelerconsensus says: Aug 31, 2013 10:03 PM

Two punters, four QBs: such incompetence.

  18. everettcampbell says: Aug 31, 2013 10:14 PM

Isn’t it ironic that Reggie Mackenzie,(Black),fired Hue Jackson(Black), & hired a White coach who never had been a head coach?2 yrs later worse results(last yr-4/12 much worst than 8/8 put up by Jackson)!Dedication to mediocrity,& failure!

Another team keeping 4 QBs… Can any of these guys play special teams?

Are the Raiders trying to steal Jerry Jones fire for complete stupidity.

If we keep 4 Qbs and 2 punters that to me demostrated the new regimes inability to assess and select in a timely manner. Thats leadership basics.

  24. nickg88 says: Sep 1, 2013 8:18 AM

This has to mean they are trying to get a pick for one of these QBs. It suggests to me that Pryor has won the job and they may shop Flynn if they can.

Yeah, Hubris Jackson swung the deal for Palmer, and now he can’t even get an OC gig anywhere. He has to toil as a RB coach in the land of no rings.
