Raiders keep two punters, too

Kluwe AP

Plenty of teams have half as many punters as they have quarterbacks.  But those teams have only two quarterbacks.

The Raiders have four quarterbacks on their 53-man roster — and two punters.

The battle between Marquette King and veteran Chris Kluwe continues beyond the mandatory cut to 53 players, with no clear sign whether King or Kluwe, or both, will be on the team when Week One commences.

Neither of the two punters ran away with the job, and coach Dennis Allen acknowledged that the job may be determined by the punter’s ability to hold for extra points and kickoffs.

It’s also possible that the Raiders will attempt to trade one of the two punters to a team looking to upgrade its situation.

God I can’t wait till that atheist charlatan Kluwe is cut so he’ll stop having a platform to disseminate his vile propaganda.

    You can’t kid me…

Al Davis is still running this team right?

Wow, 4 bad Qb’s and two Punters. Never seen a team try so hard before the season even started to get that #1 pick in the draft. Please don’t let this organization move to L.A. Send it over to London.

I remember when my team, the Packers years ago kept two punters on the roster all year. That was a horrible decision and had Packers fans angry! Helped cost Mike Sherman his job as GM and a year and a half later, as head coach.

The Raiders haven’t had a winning season in 10 years.. the longest streak of futility in NFL history. The Jets mess pales in comparison.

“Lighten up Francis”…. It’s just until they see what’s available on the waiver wire.. they’ll try to trade one of the punters if they can get anything for either of them… but this team is so devoid of talent, that truly they might find better in other people’s scrap heaps……

At least Raiders went from Lechler to having two punters….Browns went from Dawson to having ZERO kickers…Might want to figure that one out soon!

Who needs depth on the front 7 or O-Line when you can have a mass of humanity at QB and punter?

  12. misterdreamer119 says: Aug 31, 2013 11:42 PM

    4 QBs? 2 punters? What a nightmare.

  13. jeremycrowhurst says: Aug 31, 2013 11:42 PM

Actually, it’s not really that big a surprise. With their cap situation, punters and 4th string QBs are all they can afford to keep on the roster.

  14. trollhammer20 says: Sep 1, 2013 12:46 AM

Wow, they must be planning to punt a LOT this year.

have u seen their offense? they’ll need both punters!

  16. sportsfan18 says: Sep 1, 2013 3:47 AM

Uh, they aren’t going to keep two punters… I’m not and I’ve never been a Raiders fan but any and all NFL football fans KNOW that a team doesn’t keep two punters…

One will end up traded or released at some point…

  17. vaphinfan says: Sep 1, 2013 8:29 AM

As much as their going to be punting id say its a good idea keeping two punters. One guy can’t punt all them balls in one game.

  19. MyTeamsAllStink says: Sep 1, 2013 8:56 AM

They have no pass rush nor offensive line but they’ve got punters!Look out AFC west!

  20. greymares says: Sep 1, 2013 9:12 AM

with that many 3 and outs a punter gets tired.

  21. thegonz13 says: Sep 1, 2013 10:19 AM

Two punters and not one half-decent QB in the lot. This team is the league’s second biggest circus.

Is this what Mark Sanchez meant when he’s talking about Jets West?

  22. dallascowboysdishingthereal says: Sep 3, 2013 4:22 AM

With their two QBs, their punters will see lots of action.
