Plenty of teams have half as many punters as they have quarterbacks. But those teams have only two quarterbacks.
The Raiders have four quarterbacks on their 53-man roster -- and two punters.
The battle between Marquette King and veteran Chris Kluwe continues beyond the mandatory cut to 53 players, with no clear sign whether King or Kluwe, or both, will be on the team when Week One commences.
Neither of the two punters ran away with the job, and coach Dennis Allen acknowledged that the job may be determined by the punter’s ability to hold for extra points and kickoffs.
It’s also possible that the Raiders will attempt to trade one of the two punters to a team looking to upgrade its situation.
