The Buccaneers made news today both by placing kicker Lawrence Tynes on the non-football injury list and by the manner they reportedly chose to inform him of the decision, but they still had a decision to make about who would be their kicker.

Alex Marvez of FOX Sports reports that they have settled on Rian Lindell, who signed with the team after being cut by the Bills. Derek Dimke is the other kicker on the Bucs roster, although he will presumably no longer be on the roster once the Buccaneers officially announce their cuts. Dimke missed an extra point and a field goal in the team’s final preseason game.

Lindell has made 81.3 percent of his field goals during a 13-year career that started with three years in Seattle before a long run as the kicker in Buffalo. If Lindell remains on the roster into December, he’ll face his former Bills teammates on December 8.

That’s not a given, however. In addition to Tynes’ MRSA infection, the team has seen Connor Barth go down with an Achilles injury this summer.
