The Panthers have signed linebacker Ben Jacobs to their practice squad, the club said Sunday.

Jacobs, 25, appeared in five games for the Browns in 2011.

The Panthers also signed wide receiver Brenton Bersin, safety Robert Lester, running back Tauren Poole, defensive end Craig Roh, wide receiver James Shaw and defensive tackle Casey Walker to practice-squad contracts. Lester, Roh and Walker are rookies.

Poole led the Panthers in rushing in the 2013 preseason, gaining 114 yards on 39 carries.

The Panthers have one unfilled practice-squad spot.
