Chargers claim Drake Nevis off waivers

The Chargers were obviously not happy with the original state of their defensive line, as they’ve made another change the day after final cuts.

They’ve claimed former Colts defensive tackle Drake Nevis off waivers, according to Stephen Holder of the Indianapolis Star.

Nevis, a former third-round pick, joins trade acquisition Sean Lissemore, who was brought in earlier today in a deal with the Cowboys.

Chargers fans will be happy with him. He’s a little undersized for a DT or 3-4 DE but he’s very active.

He wrecks havoc in the backfield for sure and has a good motor. Just wasn’t fitting the new Colts scheme, as he was drafted by Polian to play in the 4-3 as an undertackle.

Great college player that just doesn’t have the size to be any more than a reserve DT in a 4-3.

Miscast as a 3-4 DE in Indy, he gets picked up by a team to play…3-4 DE. If he ever finds a team where he can play undertackle in a 4-3, he’ll be a star.
