Chiefs parting ways with Zac Diles

Zac Diles

After paring their roster to 53 players on Saturday, the Chiefs traded linebacker Edgar Jones to Dallas.

Now, Kansas City has made another roster move.

The Chiefs are cutting inside linebacker Zac Diles, Adam Caplan of ESPN reported on Sunday.

Diles, 28, was listed as the top backup to Derrick Johnson at right inside linebacker. The seventh-year pro from Kansas State has notched 237 regular-season tackles.

Diles’ departure leaves just three inside linebackers on the depth chart: starters Derrick Johnson and Akeem Jordan and reserve Nico Johnson. It also leaves Kansas City with two open roster spots.
