The Patriots were active on the waiver wire Sunday, claiming four players cut by other teams and adding them to their 53-man roster.

Offensive linemen Chris Barker and Braxston Cave and defensive lineman A.J. Francis were reported earlier in the day, leaving the Patriots to confirm those moves in their official announcement of roster moves on Sunday evening. They also announced that linebacker Chris White, who was cut by the Lions after being acquired in a trade with the Bills, will also be joining the team after a successful waiver claim.

The Patriots were at 51 players after their initial cuts, leaving them with two moves to make to clear space for the new arrivals. They announced that cornerback Marquice Cole and running back Leon Washington have been released. Washington got a $360,000 signing bonus for the Patriots, but that wasn’t enough to keep him on the roster. He’ll likely get looks from teams trying to upgrade their kick return output.

New England also signed LB Ja’Gared Davis, S Kanorris Davis, DB Justin Green, DL Marcus Forston and LB Jeff Tarpinian to their practice squad. All of them had been with the team until the cut to 53 players.
