Like many teams that only kept two quarterbacks on the 53-man roster, the Saints have added a quarterback to the practice squad.
New Orleans, which went with only Luke McCown behind Drew Brees on the regular-season depth chart, announced that Ryan Griffin, a rookie quarterback from Tulane, has made the practice squad.
Griffin signed with the Saints this year as an undrafted free agent after a college career in which he started 39 games and threw for 9,026 yards and 79 touchdowns. In the preseason Griffin completed 32 of 59 passes for 380 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception.
Also on the Saints’ practice squad are receiver Saalim Hakim, tight end Michael Higgins, fullback Austin Johnson, offensive tackle Marcel Jones and defensive back Jumal Rolle. All six were cut by the Saints on Saturday.
