Agent denies report Danny Watkins signs with Dolphins

Former Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Danny Watkins had a tryout with the Miami Dolphins on Monday and is reportedly set to sign with the team.

But Watkins’ agent says not so fast.

According to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com, Watkins will sign with Miami after his tryout with the team. Watkins’ agent, Joe Panos, is telling a different story. Per Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald, Panos said he’s still waiting to hear back with Miami and Watkins hasn’t signed with the Dolphins.

“Not true. I’m his agent. I think I would know,” Panos said, via Beasley.

As Beasley notes, that doesn’t mean a deal won’t ultimately get worked out between the two sides. It just isn’t done yet. However, there appears to be a mutual interest between both sides and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Eagles’ former first-round pick find a new home in South Florida.

Translation: I want to leverage this to a higher salary by pretending there’s interest from other teams.
