Chris Clemons to practice Wednesday for Seahawks

Defensive end Chris Clemons has been unable to practice with the Seattle Seahawks since his left knee gave out on the shoddy turf of FedEx Field in Seattle’s playoff victory over the Washington Redskins in January.

Clemons spent the entirety of training camp on the physically unable to perform list for the Seahawks while recovering from the torn ACL suffered against the Redskins. Clemons was activated and placed on the 53-man roster during final cuts over the weekend. It was a positive sign that Clemons was getting closer to returning.

Clemons will take another step forward on Wednesday as he’s expected to return to practice for Seattle.

“We’re really excited about that. He’s had a great preparation to get back, and it’ll be light on Wednesday, but he’s been really busting it,” head coach Pete Carroll said.

Carroll said that Clemons won’t play in the team’s opener against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday and they will still take it slow before putting him back on the field. But for a player that has accumulated 33.5 sacks over the last three seasons, the Seahawks are excited they’ll see his return to the field sooner than later.

Shame he didn’t get as many injury updates as RG3…

If you talk a lot of trash and have never won a Super Bowl, you might be a Seahawk…

Happy to hear Clem is on the mend and will be back in action soon. His leadership (and sacks!)on the defense are invaluable.

“shoddy turf” at FEDEX “field” is too nice a term. Green dirt is more accurate. RG3 and Clemons should put a lawsuit together against the NFL for allowing players on that surface. When you see players and coaches walking around in pregame walkthroughs kicking the dirt clods with their feet you can’t help but shake your head in amazement. Each team is valued at or near a billion dollars and the Skins have the equivalent of a sandlot for these million dollar players to run around in. The NFL should mandate a specific minimum quality of field for NFL games. And if they already do, then they need to really raise the bar for minimum level of quality.

Considering that RG3 will have to play on that turf 50% of the time, you would think Washington would want to replace it ASAP. Beyond odd that all their fans aren’t jumping up and down to get that replaced.

As a Seattle fan I hope we never have to do there to play a game again under the same field conditions.

Still can’t believe we didn’t keep him when he was a Redskin, he didn’t get on the field a lot but he always got pressure and sacks when we used him. Hope returns to form. Good player..

If your whole sense of self worth is based on your ability to root for a team that won titles a generation ago, you ARE a 49er fan.

35 games ago….. the last time the Seahawks lost by more than 7pts. Can’t wait till sunday!

The guy was missed in that post season loss…ease your way back.

Hawk fans know what Clem means to this defense. Game two I see him and Carpenter coming back strong which will be big for both sides of the line. Not sleeping on the Panthers though. If Cam plays well this is going to be a closer game than some think.
