The Eagles have added one linebacker and parted ways with another.

The club announced Monday it was awarded ex-Buccaneers linebacker Najee Goode on waivers. With Goode arriving, the Eagles have released linebacker Emmanuel Acho, whom they acquired from Cleveland earlier in the offseason.

Goode, 24, appeared in three games for Tampa Bay a season ago. The Buccaneers selected him in the fifth round in 2012.

A West Virginia product, Goode (6-0, 244) likely projects inside in the Eagles’ 3-4 scheme.

Najee Goode’s father, John, is a former NFL tight end who played with Philadelphia in 1985.

So Acho made plays at inside LB this preseason while Casey Matthews has shown nothing since he has been drafted and didn’t look like he improved in the preseason but yet he keeps his job while Acho gets cut….Doesn’t make much sense to me.

“Awarded” might be the wrong word choice for this player

Casey actually had a good preseason . from what I saw he was getting to the ball also special teams most likely is keep in him around

I can see why they released Acho. All he did was make tackles.

Keep The Mattress and cut Acho? This has to be a misprint. Exactly what has Mathews done since day one to earn a spot on this team? Their are a million other special teams players better then him!
