Raiders announce practice squad, no word yet on Tyler Wilson

Tyler Wilson AP

The Raiders have announced their practice squad, and the most notable name is one who didn’t appear in the announcement.

Tyler Wilson, the quarterback the Raiders took in the fourth round of the NFL draft, was not on the list. Some expected the Raiders to bring Wilson back for their practice squad after releasing him, but that hasn’t happened yet because we don’t know yet if Wilson cleared waivers.

The names in the Raiders’ announcement are cornerback Chance Casey, receiver Greg Jenkins, safety Shelton Johnson, tight end Brian Leonhardt, guard Lamar Mady, tackle Matt McCants and linebacker Marshall McFadden. That’s seven names, which means there’s still one spot left, and Wilson would make a lot of sense there if he does clear waivers.

At least to the extent that you can call drafting a quarterback in the fourth round only to have him on your practice squad, rather than the 53-man roster, making a lot of sense.

Maybe the Jets claimed him on waivers.

Raider fans were all yappin’ like coyotes when the Raiders moved ahead of the Chiefs and drafted Wilson. Now it looks like the only guy on the roster that has a future as a QB will get cut. Thanks Reg.

Keep yappin jjack…. and watch as Andy Reid mishandles the best player he has on his team (Charles), and as Pryor makes your linebackers and secondary look silly. You know, as bad as the Raiders have been for the past 10 years, the Chiefs have actually finished BEHIND them the majority of the time….

Careful there, fans love Reggie. Mostly they’re fans of DEN, KC and SD.

The last time the Chiefs won a playoff game trains were still the primary form of transportation.

How does a 4th round pick not make the team!!!!

    Cmon Reggie!

I thought this was a sound personnel guy.

    Geez!

Plus was just looking at some other decisions (not sure if they were Reggie or not…but)

    Other Raider Pre-Season Cuts.

(just off the top of my head….I’m sure the fans can come up with more)

DB Sterling Moore – Started in Super Bowl 2 yrs ago for Patiriots

DB Stevie Brown – Had 8 Int’s last year for Giants (2nd in NFL)

What else can you guys list…..

If you’re admitting your ignorance, why are you talking? Stevie Brown was a 7th round pick in 2010 and was on the practice squad, but was put on the active roster in the first month of the season. He didn’t survive the final cut in 2011. The Panthers signed him and cut him, then the Colts picked him up.
Sterling Moore? Who cares? He was a FA. He started for the Pats because they were thin at the position.
Seattle waived a 4th round pick. It’s a bigger deal for McKenzie because his roster is destitute, but it happens.
