Bruce Arians: Rashard Mendenhall ready for opener

Rashard Mendenhall injured his knee during the Arizona Cardinals’ third preseason game against the San Diego Chargers and did not appear in their preseason finale.

He also didn’t practice for the Cardinals on Monday, However, head coach Bruce Arians isn’t concerned about Mendenhall’s availability for the season opener against the St. Louis Rams on Sunday.

I did not let him go today, but he’s more than ready,” Arians said, via Darren Urban of the team’s official site.

Mendenhall was sporting a brace on his knee on the sidelined while watching practice Monday. Mendenhall carried 13 times for 79 yards – averaging 6.1 yards per carry – in limited time in two preseason games. In addition, Arians said Ryan Williams is fully healthy and ready to play as well.

A healthy running game would ease some of the pressure for Carson Palmer against a Rams defensive unit that led the league in sacks in 2012.

It literally does not matter, that offensive line is going to sink them no matter what.

I really wish they had kept Stephens-Howling. Hope that Ellingson and Taylor get a chance to prove themselves this year.

Ryan Williams fully healthy? Over or under 2 games before he’s hurt again. I’ll take the under.
