The Redskins went the familiar route with the eight players making up their practice squad.

Cornerback Chase Minnifield and running back Jawan Jamison join six other players who were with the Redskins right up until final cuts. In the case of Minnifeld, the stay with the Redskins has been even longer. He spent all of 2012 on the team’s injured reserve after battling for a spot on the 53-man roster during training camp.

Jamison was a seventh-round pick this year, but couldn’t crack the depth chart. Roy Helu, Evan Royster and fellow rookie Chris Thompson all have had hard times with injuries in the past, however, so Jamison might get a call later this season if someone goes down behind Alfred Morris. Or if Morris were to go down, but Jamison probably isn’t saving the day under that scenario.

Defensive end Dominique Hamilton, guard Tevita Stevens, linebacker Will Compton, tackle Xavier Nixon, wide receiver Lance Lewis and wide receiver Nick Williams round out the initial practice squad in Washington.
