Colts release Boyett after arrest

The next time John Boyett gets arrested, he’s going to have to use a new line on the cops.

The Colts announced this morning they had waived the rookie safety from the reserve/non-football injury list.

They were stashing him there for the season, after drafting him in the sixth round despite knee injuries that limited him to one game last year at Oregon.

But that was before he was arrested early Monday morning on charges of disorderly conduct, public intoxication and resisting law enforcement.

According to the report, Boyett told cops: “You can’t arrest me, I’m a Colts player.”

Now, apparently, they are free to.

Great, now the Colts will probably sign free safety/strong safety/special teams standout Corey Lynch, who my Titans just cut for some baffling reason.

Very disappointing to say the least. I watched him play at Oregon for 4 years and this is not the Boyett that was a great team leader.

To be fair, that line always worked in Eugene, Oregon where the cops were run by Nike U. Chip Kelly and Uncle Phil Knight took care of the police matters for all but the most egregarious arrests. The ones we heard about in the media were only a fraction of what actually occurred by the criminal football team.
