Texans, Brian Cushing agree to long-term contract extension

The Houston Texans are locking up linebacker Brian Cushing for the long haul.

Cushing and the Texans have agreed on the terms of a long-term contract extension, a league source tells PFT.

Although Cushing was entering the final season of the five-year contract he signed as the Texans’ first-round draft pick in 2009, he won’t test free agency. Instead, he’ll be a building block in Houston’s defense for years to come.

The 26-year-old Cushing’s 2012 season was cut short when he suffered a torn ACL in the fifth game of the year. Obviously, the Texans have no doubt that Cushing is healthy for this season, and for many more seasons to come.

Wow that’s great to hear. I wonder what the deal was. Many were thinking that Bowman’s deal last year would be the template.

Now we just got to get JJ signed next offseason.

As a Colts fan, good for him.
He’s going to help keep this new rivalry very relevant for a few more seasons.

Are PED’s the perk to this contract or are they okay with his average LB play?

I’ve been saying it all offseason…this is the year Houston takes the next big step. I expect it to be Houston vs Denver in the AFC Championship game, and New Orleans vs San Francisco in the NFC game.

Good signing. I would have waited a few games to see how he comes back from the injury.

Let’s hope he’s not the next Shawn Merriman. We all saw how he fared when he got off the juice. Haven’t had a chance to evaluate Cushing without it as he got injured last season….

They had to do this so they can figure out their options when they sign the dotted line for J.J. Watt’s monster contract.

I hope they have a steroid clause because he is a roid rage waiting to happen. Sorry, but dude has a long history, and he obviously learned how to pass(cheat)the test.

He’ll pop again….Him and his fellow USC LB’s that were juicing with him. That Big Head Matthew’s guy in the green and gold especially.

If you have any questions why NFL players keep getting caught with steroids and HGH, this is the answer. 21 mil guaranteed vs the risk of losing 3-4 games.
